About
Why we built this.
Most of what gets written at work doesn't get read. The thinking was fine. It arrived as eleven grey paragraphs on a Tuesday and got three seconds. Then someone asked a question that was in paragraph four.
Documents got stuck.
Software changed every medium it touched. Documents froze. What we send each other imitates paper, down to the chart pasted in as a picture of a chart. The thing your reader is holding is a browser. It can show more than paper ever could:
- tables that are tables
- a diagram where the diagram belongs
- numbers big enough to matter
- a slider the reader can drag, and the page answers
Pages like that were possible before. They cost a designer and a developer, so nothing you sent got one. AI removed that cost, and most AI writing tools stopped there. They made words cheaper and poured them into the same flat boxes. Words were not the expensive part.
Three things we won't budge on.
Writing is worth what gets read.A doc nobody finishes didn't happen. Paragraph three doesn't count if nobody got there. So the same thinking should come back as a page, and as a deck when the room wants one, without anyone rebuilding it by hand and keeping three copies alive.
Taste belongs in the tool. Most tools hand you a blank canvas and the means to ruin it. Every page here sits on a designed system nobody can break, the model included. When the default looks good, looking good stops being for teams with a designer.
You keep the pen.It drafts, you decide. Every change waits, marked up, for your yes. Nothing goes out under your name that you didn't read.
Where this goes.
Today you bring the words and foldout handles the rest. The bigger bet is structure. Every document tool makes you file your own writing: pick the database, fill in the properties, keep it current. We think the software should do the filing. You write. The tool works out what relates to what, and what changed since last quarter.
Follow that to the end and a document stops being a snapshot. Pages stay live after you send them. They stay filed with nobody filing them. A company's writing starts to behave like a working system instead of a drawer of frozen files.
That's a long road. It starts with a page somebody finishes.
Start with yours.
Paste the last thing you sent. You'll know in a minute whether any of the above is true.
